"Lady Friday" now available in the US, Canada, UK, Australia & New Zealand!
April 14/08 Breaking News A Sabriel Film now seems likely to go ahead. While Garth Nix has always shied away from divulging too much information about possible film adaptations of his books he has always done so in hopes fans would not get their hopes up. So the announcement from Nix now is a sure sign we'll one day be seeing Sabriel and possible more books on the big screen soon. The packaged production team that Garth Nix has acquired for the film includes director Anand Tucker, writer Dan Futterman, and producers Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner. Nix at this point is also in the position to co-write the screenplay. He has said it has always been his intent to co-write a possible adaptation with people whose work he respects. Full Story: Publishing News Says Nix: It's "an opportunity to make a fantasy film that [is] not only a great adventure story, but a compelling human drama - as was achieved by the films of The Lord of the Rings." The team is set to pitch their vision for the film to studios later this month. January 9th/08 All the news these days has to do with Imperial Galaxy in case you haven't noticed. Now there is even more news! Included in a recent game update is a sneak peak at what promises to be another great book from Garth Nix; this one to round out the decade as it becomes available in 2009. "A Confusion of Princes" is the story for which the game Imperial Galaxy is based and you can now read the first chapter of the forthcoming book from the "Help" section of the MMOG. We have the link right here though to save you the trouble: Read the First Chapter of A Confusion of Princes December 17th/07 Have you heard? The new MMOG "Imperial Galaxy" from the imagination of Garth Nix and a crack team of designers has just been released for open beta and is now playable on facebook! If you've got an account with Facebook you will be able to join Garth and others in hunting down and destroying the dangerous Dreader aliens and Sad Eyes, all the while building your personal empire in the Imperial Galaxy. Have fun! December 10th/07 Garth Nix recently set a date for the release of the new MMOG "Imperial Galaxy." It, according to Nix, will be released in Open Beta on Monday, December 17th at 12:01AM US Eastern Time. So it's not so much of a long awaited release since we've only heard about it a couple months ago, but according to what the author wrote on his Facebook page, it has been in the production process for about three years now. If you haven't already, be sure to add Garth as a friend on Facebook and you'll be notified when the game is released for Open Beta. According to Nix the game follows the background of his forthcoming Science Fiction novel "A Confusion of Princes" which is scheduled for release in 2009. From the Author: So a week from now, you can join the Imperial Navy and with your friends go forth to reclaim the lost Rozaxra Domain from Sad-Eye and Deader aliens, Mrouzh Rebels, Naknuk Secessionists, pirates, rebels and other star-scum. To your ships, my friends! November 28th/07 Garth Nix has Facebook? Yes it's true. Mr. Nix has signed on to the Facebook bandwagon and is more than "happy to electronically befriend any reader." Only don't go expecting him to be able to respond to your every question and such. He is after all a very busy man. If you "friend" him you will also be included in a sort of open beta of a new MMOG game which should, according to Garth, be available to play any day now. The game will follow the background of his forthcoming novel "A Confusion of Princes" which is scheduled for release in 2009. The game is called "Imperial Galaxy." Superior Saturday Update! The first cover is now up! This from Scholastic US: The new cover comes with one of the first in depth plot descriptions. Read below: Garth Nix is back with the sixth explosive title in his gripping fantasy series, The Keys to the Kingdom. On the Sixth Day, there was Sorcery Arthur Penhaligon has wrested five of the Keys from their immortal guardians, the Trustees of the Will. But gaining the Sixth Key poses a greater challenge than any he has ever faced before. Superior Saturday is not just one of the Trustees, she is also the oldest Denizen and the most powerful and knowledgeable sorcerer within the House. She has tens of thousands of sorcerers at her command -- and she has been preparing her forces all along for the Will's escape and the activities of the Rightful Heir. Everything is all just part of a greater plan she has been hatching for ten thousand years. As Saturday's schemes become evident, Arthur is beset on all sides. Nothing is eroding the House, and only the power of the Keys can hold back the tide of destruction. His mother is still missing. His home city is under attack. His allies are unreliable. He can't even get into the apparently impregnable Upper House and even if he does, finding the Sixth Part of the Will and gaining the Sixth Key might not be enough to counter Saturday's sorcerous hordes o... Oddly enough it just trails off there. Clearly there was a mistake somewhere along the line.

Garth Nix has nearly confirmed that one or more of his books will be made into a film adaption in the foreseeable future. While fan support on a possible film of his books has been mixed, the question always seems to come up in interviews with the author. At this Mr. Nix has respectively responded in the past that while he has had offers on all of his books, the only way he would sell them would be for a good financial commitment and a film maker whose work he can appreciate. So far this combination has not come forward. However, in a recent blog entry made on Amazon.com the author stated rather hesitantly that " there might be some film news rather sooner than later, though now I've said that, heaven knows what will happen . . ."(Oct 18th) No other word has been said on the subject since then. However if you have something to add to this story, feel free to click the "contact" link and send me a message.

We have unconfirmed news that Garth Nix recently has signed a deal with Harper Collins for a new trilogy of books. What these books are remains a mystery, whether or not they are based off of his most popular "Old Kingdom Series" or something new. If someone can confirm this that would be great. Please contact us with the source. If not - oh well; it was a nice rumour.
UPDATE: The above has been confirmed tentatively: see source. It looks like he will indeed be writing two new Old Kingdom books including a prequel currently titled "Clariel: The Lost Abhorsen" as well as "A Confusion of Princes" which he has been working on for a good deal of years. It is said to be a science fiction space opera book that sort of follows the book "David Copperfield" by Charles Dickens. It should be released around 2009 with the other books released sometime after that.

So far only Harper Collins US and UK have signed on but it's expected Allen and Unwin in Australia will as well.

Mogget's Old Kingdom is almost one year old, and we invite everyone to celebrate with us by sharing a picture of your collection of Garth Nix books.
MOK was created almost one year ago on May 13 (ironically the same day SABRIEL was originally published), and since then we have become arguably the largest fansite for Garth Nix enthusiasts. Recently we have added a number of new quizzes, including a personality test, to see which Old Kingdom character you are most like. We hope to continue to offer a great website for fans in the future as well.
Sincerely, Mogget1. Administrator.

Garth Nix has setup a profile on Amazon.com, where he has released some very intriguing news about his books old and new (or actually he teases with information). See here for more information.
Garth Nix's Keys to the Kingdom series appeared, according to Garth Nix's website, on the New York Times bestsellers' list at no. 8. Sir Thursday has appeared on numerous bestsellers' lists in many countries.
March 14th/06:
Sir Thursday is old news; Lady Friday is the next book for Garth Nix and in the UK, Amazon is already allowing die-hard fans to pre-order the book. Already the book is selling well. The book which is slated for release on March 5, 2007 is ranked number 49,229 respectively in sales. We've still a year yet. :)
Garth Nix's website at www.garthnix.com is open at long last, but it is not operational. However, many would consider this to be a big sign that perhaps soon in the not-so-distant future, Garth Nix will have a more reliable webresource.
March 5th/06:
That's right, "Sir Thursday," the long-awaited addition to the wildly popular "Keys to the Kingdoms" series. This latest book promises to be an exciting one for sure. Many have already called it "the best in the series so far." Don't miss it! Get your copy at your local bookstore, or at any fine online retailers. The book has reached as high as no. 8 on Amazon UK's bestseller's list.
Keystothekingdom.com.au has gone "Sir Thursday" with its new updated frontpage. With the launch of the book in Australia and New Zealand, an exciting new contest has surfaced, for those Keys fans wanting to be a part of the action. The winner receives a pill of brilliant prizes, and his/her name will be featured in the next book "Lady Friday," which is expected to be released early next year.
December 16th/05:
I deeply apologize for having not updated in a long time. Suffice it to say I will always continue to update this site with news, and news I have today.
Keystothekingdom.com.au has released a letter from Garth Nix to his fans. Read and revel:
Dear Reader
Here we are, almost at Christmas already. I hope the year has been good, or if it hasn’t been that great, then 2006 will bring significant improvements!
One thing that will come along in 2006 is Sir Thursday, the fourth book in my series The Keys to the Kingdom. It will be released in March, so I hope you will reserve a copy from your favourite bookshop. Or you’ll reserve one at your local library, or make sure your best friend who has all the other books knows about the next one so they go and get it!
I always find it hard to tell whether I’ve written a good book or not — I just write the story I want to write and hope for the best — but some of the early feedback has been very positive for Sir Thursday, including some critics who have said it is the best one in the series so far. I hope it is, because I would like the books to get better as the series goes along.
Sir Thursday was fun for me to write, particularly the parts about Arthur’s experiences when he is drafted into the Army of the House and has to go through recruit training. More than twenty years ago I served in the Australian Army Reserve for four years as a part-time soldier, and I drew on my memory of that experience for some of what Arthur goes through, though of course in the book I have changed things and mixed in all kinds of imagined and invented stuff as well.
I also enjoyed writing Sir Thursday because it is the fourth book of the seven book series, so I was able to introduce more of the ‘big story’ and reveal a little more about what is actually going on with the disappearance of the Architect, the Trustee’s activities and so on. I say a little more, because there is much more to come — and many more challenges and difficulties for Arthur, his family and friends.
I’m working on Lady Friday at the moment, which I should be finishing around May next year, though it won’t come out till 2007. This is because though I may finish a revised draft in May, the editorial and publishing process always takes quite a while, with the aim of making sure the book is as good as it can be, and looks good as well.
I hope you enjoy Sir Thursday when it comes along and that you enter the competition Allen & Unwin will be running to get your name in Lady Friday (as a character or thing).*
In the meantime, happy holiday season and may the new year bring you wonderful books of all kinds, good health and general happiness!
Best wishes
Garth Nix
* Look out for the competition details online early next year!
October 27th/05:
First, I have some exciting news to share. Garth Nix will be interviewed live by OregonLive on Saturday October 29th at 2pm (Pacific Time). You can send in your questions through their website and Garth Nix might answer. If you miss it live, the interview will be archived for future access. (Thanks to Lawrence Siulagi of OregonLive for the news)
In an interview with Garth Nix (found in the Advanced Copy of Sir Thursday), his editor asked about following book, Lady Friday. Few details were released on the specifics of the book, but here is an excerpt:
...Once again, intending to be a different kind of adventure for Arthur, Leaf, Suzy, and the others. Sir Thursday is a military adventure, a tale of war and battle. Lady Friday will not be a story of obvious big battles, though there will be plenty of underhanded and secret stuff going on. Like all my books on at least one level it will still be an adventure story. At the same time Lady Friday is up to no good (and on his world, for the most part), Arthur will also have to deal with everything that's happened before, and what's developing into a three-way (or more) struggle in the House between the Morrow Days, the Piper, and the Will.
Also, keep your eyes open for a review of the forthcoming SIR THURSDAY, coming in March of 2006. The book will be reviewed by Mogget, the administrator.
October 20th/05:
It's about time. Garth Nix's personal website was updated today. The update includes the prologue to the highly anticipated Sir Thursday, sneak peaks to upcoming short fictions, comments, and the announcement of another visit to the US. Garth Nix will be in Portland, Oregon on the 30th of October and Madison, Wisconsin the next week.
